Presidents" Day 2010 in Baltimore

106 25
Maryland was one of the states to officially rename Washington's Birthday Presidents' Day. (We're big fans of the first president - we built the first monument in his honor) While the federal, state, and city governments are closed, lots of other folks have to go to work - thus making it the least exciting holiday of the year.

Because it is a federal holiday, the U.S. Postal Service, schools, libraries, banks and stock exchanges also are closed.

There is no MARC train service, and other MTA transit lines run on a holiday schedule.

Typically grocery stores and other retail outlets are open. Many restaurants and hair salons already close Mondays, so call first.

A few museums, however, have special hours for Presidents' Day.
  • Port Discovery
Open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Featuring Uncle Pete with Kids at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Money rubbings with coins from around the world from 1 - 3 p.m.
  • National Aquarium
    Open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
