My Review For Skinceuticals Phloretin CF - Does it Work?

103 17
I first heard about Skinceuticals Phloretin CF from my dermatologist.
I'm not the kind of person to go out and just buy something on the spot because it's recommended - I really like to do a lot of due diligence before I part with my hard earned cash.
Especially for the price! A full 1oz bottle will run you over a hundred bucks and that's a pretty penny for a single mom like myself.
If you're not familiar with Phloretin CF here's a quick rundown on what it's supposed to do.
It's in the "topical antioxidant" category and it's ingredients are 2% Phloretin, 10% L-Ascorbic Acid, and.
5% Ferulic Acid.
It also contains denatured alcohol which is known to dry your skin, so if your skin is pretty dry already I would take note of that.
Oily skinned women rejoice as the alcohol helps remove any excess sebum which is a plus.
So What Is This Ingredient Phloretin, Anyway? I did some research on what exactly Phloretin does and here's what I found.
It's an ingredient that comes from apple tree leaves and I found out in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology that it's been proven to protect from sun damage.
The study also showed that this ingredient protected against skin reddening and DNA damage caused by UV radiation.
Does It Really Work? Some users have experienced not so great results - one in particular complained about it drying out their skin.
This is due to the denatured alcohol in the product and if you already have dry skin then you'll probably get the same negative results.
However if you have oily skin it might be worth giving it a try.
