Discover the Dental Hygienist"s Blueprint For Superb Skincare
A year or so ago, I was having my 6 monthly check up and as it was Anna's last appointment for the day we got chatting (as girls do) about the kids, holidays, the economy and even cleaning routines for the teeth! (She just had to bring that up!) Now, I have been lucky as I'm forced to keep a very strict routine for my teeth as I work "front of camera" for photo shoots, promotions etc.
Grotty teeth means no work! Anna and I talked about toothpaste, dental sticks and manual versus machine brushing.
For me - toothpaste, floss etc is always Tescos own brand and brushing is with Philips SoniCare system - wow" - what a product.
Anna reckons it's the best out there and we sang it's praises for a few minutes.
As I was leaving she asked "I suppose you use the other Sonic product for your skin - the Clarisonic".
Er - no! She was amazed that as I spend part of my life in a makeup chair before going on set, that I'd be a Clarisonic fan (and also because I love the dental product that was designed by the same team).
To be honest, I'm pretty thorough with my skin routine and in particular where getting the junk off your face is concerned (that's been applied by the makeup artists).
I spend ages with cleansers and pads etc.
And I've also thought that these cleansing machines for the face were a bit of a high priced gimmick for those who couldn't be bothered to do the job by hand.
Anna smiled and said " Get into the 21st century! - Take it from me - Just get the Clarisonic Mia like I have and you'll become an instant fan - It will do a much better job than you can do manually and in a fraction of the time" I went home and thought no more about it...
until bedtime when I cleaned my teeth...
(I'd hate to do without my sonic toothbrush - so will I feel the same about a sonic cleanser?) (This is getting to sound more like a Philips Sonicare Review!!) The following morning I Googled "Clarisonic Mia" and started to get curious about this product.
My first reaction was "Heck - this isn't cheap"! But, I was impressed with all the positive reviews and then drilled down on the models - what each one did and how they differed.
I didn't buy Anna's recommendation of the Clarisonic Mia.
It's great if you don't want the body mode and it's a very compact machine - quite a bit smaller than the others and I was tempted.
After much "umming and arring" I went for the Clarisonic Plus which is for face and body and has a variety of speeds.
Even when I'd bought it, I was still a little sceptical and thought I'd give it a thorough test.
With full make up to be removed I went through my usual routine on one half of my face.
On the other side, I used the Clarisonic.
If you buy one, just try this yourself! It was an amazing comparison.
And surprisingly, the Clarisonic won easily - much quicker than a manual clean - more thorough (this really surprised me) and using it is a really nice experience.
Looking back it's probably a similar reaction to changing from manually brushing your teeth to the instant and amazing results I got when I switched to the Sonic toothbrush.
A sort of "Wow" moment that you didn't really expect! The Clarisonic Plus is an amazing product and it's one of those things that you wish you'd bought years ago - but, don't just take my word for it - no, on second thoughts - do take my word for it! - for us girls, it's a must have, believe me (and there's also one for the guys as well)
