How to Mix Horticultural Oil With Rotenone
- 1). Read all labels for both liquid concentrated horticultural oil and liquid concentrated rotenone before handling. Horticultural oils are highly refined petroleum oils mixed with a type of emulsifying agent. Rotenone exposure causes respiratory tract irritation and dermatitis.
- 2). Put on proper personal equipment. This includes long sleeve shirt, closed toe shoes, long pants, dust mask, and rubber or latex gloves.
- 3). Fill a one gallon jug half way full with water.
- 4). Add 2 to 4 tablespoons of liquid concentrated horticultural oil to the gallon jug. Mix by replacing cap and gently swirl the oil and water together. The mixture may get foamy.
- 5). Add 1 to 4 teaspoons of liquid concentrated rotenone into the gallon jug.
- 6). Replace cap and gently swirl rotenone with the oil/water mixture.
- 7). Fill up the gallon jug with water. Replace cap and shake to completely mix together. Always keep a hand on the cap to keep it from popping off from pressure.
- 8). Label the gallon jug with ingredients for later use.
- 9). Pour the gallon solution into a spray bottle for application. Label the spray bottle with ingredients.

Store the gallon jug and spray bottle out of the reach of children and away from animals.
