Grumpy Cat's Rise to Fame
To know Grumpy Cat is to love her, at least from her perspective---or not.
Born on April 4th, 2012, and named Tardar Sauce, Grumpy Cat became the feline version of a rising starlet before her first birthday. Tardar Sauce was born with a form of feline dwarfism, with shortened legs, a short tail, and a frowny face, which, according to Wikipedia, is caused by an underbite. I've read that she really has a sweet personality, and that her brother, Pokey, is really the grumpy one.
Thanks to imaginative promotion by her owners, Tabatha Bundesen and her brother, In 2013, her photo appeared on the front page of The Wall Street Journal in May and on the cover of New York Magazine in October. Tardar Sauce has even shared the same podium with President Obama. She won BuzzFeed's Meme of the Year Award at the 2013 Webby Awards, and also won first prize Golden Kitty at the second annual Internet Cat Video Film Festival. A Grumpy Cat movie is also forthcoming as of the writing of this article. You can keep up with her latest news on her Facebook Page. While you're there, let Grumpy know you've read my comments about her products, so she'll have another reason to frown.
My son and I rank among Grumpy Cat's biggest fans. We have purchased countless t-shirts, along with the official Grumpy Cat Plush Toy, and window decals. I have bought both Grumpy Cat Books, both in the print copies and Kindle. We're certainly not alone in the unofficial Grumpy Cat fan club. Whenever we wear Grumpy Cat t-shirts in public, passers-by give us thumbs up, or stop and say, "I just love Grumpy Cat.
Where did you get that t-shirt?" Of course, there are a few curmudgeons who just shake their heads and walk on by. I refuse to let grumpy people spoil my day.
Grumpy Cat Plush Toy
I bought this cute plush toy for my son as a sort of joke gift. The joke backfired when our kittenish year-old cat Gaither adopted it for his own. Well, sort of adopted it. He was a bit fearful of it at first, then started tackling it and dragging it down the hallway. Sorry, 'bout that, Tardar Sauce!
Product Description:
Ten inches tall, plush fabric, manufactured by Gund.
Three Grumpy Cat Moon T-Shirt
I found this T-Shirt at the Greater Good stores. Greater Good partners with non-profit organizations through GreaterGood.org, a 501c3 nonprofit. Each year, GreaterGood.org grants go to more than 130 charities working in the United States and worldwide. As a small example, my purchase of this T-shirt provided funding for 28 bowls of food for cats and dogs at animal shelters. I bought this same T-Shirt for my son at the Greater Good Veteran's store, where my purchase funded two meals for hungry veterans in need.

Grumpy Cat I Had Fun Once T-Shirt
Depending on the licensed manufacturer, the Grumpy Cat I Had Fun Once T-Shirt comes in various colors and images, including gray, white, black, and turquoise. I preferred the attention-getting turquoise for myself. It's probably my favorite of all the Grumpy Cat shirts.
Sizes include Small, Medium, Large, XL, and XXL. Junior sizes also available in some stores.
Black Grumpy Cat I Hate Mondays T-Shirt
I have not yet purchased this T-Shirt, however at the current prices, I may very well buy one. This men's athletic fit black t-shirt is blended cotton, and you don't even have to be a curmudgeon to relate to the "I Hate Mondays" theme. It's available in men's sizes S-XXL

Grumpy Cat 7 Inch Plush Doll
Made by Ganz, this Grumpy Cat Plush Doll is the purrfect size for sitting on my desktop computer to overlook my work. Her beady eyes and stern demeanor will observe with her stern enjoyment any errors on my part and keep me on my toes.
I purchased this doll at Amazon, but it may also be available at retail stores such as Target, Kmart or Walmart..
Grumpy Cat This is My Happy Face T-Shirt
I remember my grandmother telling me not to frown so much "because your face will freeze like that when you are older." Poor Grumpy Cat doesn't have that option, because her face was already "frozen like that" when she was born.
This T-shirt is made of 100% cotton, and comes in both Junior and adult sizes. It is available in many of the larger "big box" stores, as well as at Amazon
From the NON-dedication (a bunch of names crossed out, including her owners'), to the last page, illustrated with her photo and the comment, "I wrote a book once, it was awful," the entire book is designed to turn the readers' smiles upside down, and Grumpy Cat accomplishes that goal quite handily. I hated to love it.
Published by Chronicle Books, located in San Francisco, CA.
Continuing in her favorite mode of grumpiness, Grumpy cat teachers us life lessons from the perspective of hopelessness.
The table of contents sucks the reader in with chapters such as "Love and Friendship," "Home and Family." and "Happiness." Then spits you out with an outlook on life approaching true grumpiness. By the time you finish this book, you'll love to hate it (or hate to love it). But either way, you'll never be sorry to have read it.
