Eczema treatments that don't focus on the cause of eczema are a waste of your money.
I am going to attempt to explain common problems with most eczema treatments and attempt to get your pointed in the right direction.
Now, before we go there, let me give you a little background information.
I am 27 years old and a former eczema sufferer.
I went through what a lot of you have gone through, until I found an eczema treatment that was effective.
Effective means that it isn't just a mask for the symptoms, it actually goes after the cause of your eczema.
3 Common eczema treatments, and why they fail: 1) Protopic and Elidel - Avoid these like the plague.
The FDA recently put out a warning that these items contain possible cancer causing agents.
Why? Well, they are absorbed into the body, but are not prone to leaving.
I would personally would not use either of these products.
2) Creams/Lotions - I've heard a lot of people say that control moisture is the only treatment for eczema.
Their theory is that providing tons of extra moisture by means of lotions and creams will help hydrate the skin and reduce the number of outbreaks.
Yes, this may add to comfort, because it attacks the dry skin symptoms, but it will not stop the disease.
3) Vitamins and Minerals - A supplement such as Omega-3s (found in fish oil) can be beneficial, but only if used in the right amount at the right times.
Many authors leave this information out intentionally.
If you're going to go this route, make sure you do your homework.
Dosage and timing are everything when it comes to supplements.
