Back Pain and Surgery
Back pain can be very debilitating.
It is important how a person deals with the pain as it can determine how much pain they could possibly end up with in the future.
There are multiple solutions people seek when they are struck with pain.
First, most will simply take an over-the-counter drug to try and alleviate the pain.
Others head to their family doctor and get prescribed medication.
Some seek alternative routes which can include acupuncture and herbal remedies to deal with their affliction.
The more extreme ways to deal with the pain is by having injections or surgery.
Surgery can be a life saver when dealing with extreme physical afflictions that cause pain.
Sometimes the only way to correct a problem is by surgically addressing it.
Surgery is of course considered an invasive way to try and deal with any problem.
Anytime you go under the knife for any sort of problem there will be risks, which must be weighed against the benefits.
Can surgery be avoided? In every case there will be many determining factors.
Have you first considered getting more than one opinion on your problem? Doctors, like all of us, are not perfect.
Maybe their suggestion of having surgery is premature.
How about considering methods that are noninvasive before a surgery.
Quite often, therapies like spinal decompression and cold laser can help to heal back problems without the need of surgery.
Procedures like these are usually not quick fixes, but can heal the back slowly, giving the patient a more lasting and possibly permanent solution.
Once again, these types of solutions are not instantaneous.
Keep in mind that when you're dealing with a recurring problem like back pain, there will typically not be some sort of quick fix to completely alleviate all of your pain.
Choosing a chiropractor and/or physical therapist to assist you can be a tough one.
How do you choose? Finding an experienced Doctor of Chiropractic that is also a Licensed Physical Therapist is a great start if possible.
Find out how long they have been in business and where they were trained.
Check around the internet to make sure there have been no major problems with the doctor.
Does he have any high profile patients? High profile patients such as professional athletes can show that even high paid pros trust the doctor with their therapy as well.
See how things go on your first appointment and then decide about subsequent visits.
After a few appointments you will start to get a feel for how your body is responding to the treatment.
It's your body and ultimately your decision what goes into it and what is applied to it...
and by whom!
