    • 1). Check that the speed control is set to "Off/0" and that the stand mixer is unplugged.

    • 2). Set the motor locking lever on the side of the motor head to the unlock position, and tilt the motor head back.

    • 3). Grasp your flat beater, dough hook, wire whip or other mixing attachment.

    • 4). Align the groove on the end of the attachment with the pin on the side of the beater shaft. Slide the attachment onto the beater shaft.

    • 5). Push the attachment up and turn it to the right.

    Attachment Hub

    • 1). Check that your KitchenAid stand mixer speed control is set to "Off/0" and that the mixer is unplugged.

    • 2). Turn the attachment knob that is beside the power hub counterclockwise to loosen. Depending on the model stand mixer, remove or flip up the hub attachment cover.

    • 3). Insert the attachment power shaft into the attachment hub on the stand mixer. Both the internal part of the attachment hub as well as the attachment power shaft are square in shape. If the two are aligned improperly the attachment power shaft will not fit into the attachment hub.

    • 4). Check that the pin on the attachment housing fits into the notch on the attachment hub. If necessary, rotate the attachment back and forth to achieve a proper position.

    • 5). Turn the attachment knob clockwise and tighten to secure the attachment in place.
