    • 1). Measure 2 inches from one edge of the canvas square to mark a strip 1 foot long and 2 inches wide. Use the ruler to make a straight edge separating the strip from the rest of the canvas. Cut the strip off of the fabric square.

    • 2). Measure out a 3-inch by 4-inch rectangle on both the canvas and the plastic sheeting. On the wrong side of the fabric and plastic, use the ruler to draw the outline of the rectangle. The right side of the fabric is the patterned or brighter-colored side, and the right side of the plastic is the shinier side. Cut out the rectangles with scissors.

    • 3). With the wrong side of the fabric facing up, fold each long edge of the canvas strip over half an inch and pin it. Stitch these hems using a straight stitch on the sewing machine. Fold the entire strip in half lengthwise, with the right side of the fabric out, so the two hems meet. Stitch over the existing stitch marks to join the two edges together.

    • 4). With the right side facing up, fold one short edge of the canvas rectangle and one short edge of the plastic rectangle over half an inch and pin. Stitch these hems using a straight stitch on the sewing machine.

    • 5). Fold the long strip in half so the unhemmed edges meet and you have a 6-inch long loop. With the wrong side of the canvas rectangle facing up, place the unhemmed edges of the loop in the middle of one hemmed edge of the rectangle. Attach the loop by hand. Stitch an "x" shape, and go over the same "x" several times.

    • 6). Place the canvas rectangle down with the right side of the fabric facing up. Lay the plastic over it, with the right side facing down. Pin the two pieces together in the middle. Hold the two pieces so the hemmed edges are at the top. Stitch the rectangles together on the sewing machine with a straight stitch. Start from the upper right hand corner and go down, go along the other short side, then go along the other long edge. Turn the canvas tag right side out.

    • 7). Measure out a 2-inch by 3-inch piece of tagboard and cut it out. Hold the tagboard rectangle so the 3-inch side is on top. Mark out five horizontal lines with the ruler. Fill in your name on the first line, address on the second and third lines, phone number on the fourth line and e-mail address on the fifth line.
