Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes Golf Course – Hole Number 1
Hole Number 1 - Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes Golf Course
Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes Golf Course is an 18-hole Greg Norman championship layout that plays a challenging 7,122 yards from the tips, if you’re golfer enough to handle them. The course is set at the headwaters of the Florida Everglades on the shores of Shingle Pond – it’s more lake than pond - in the most remote section of Grande Lakes that runs parallel with Shingle Creek.
The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes Golf Course incorporates two very distinct settings over the 18-hole round.
Several of the holes are routed through pristine natural areas where Greg has preserved the natural state of the wetlands and woodlands where old-growth pine trees, palmetto, and live oaks dominate the landscape.
The three finishing holes weave alongside the two towering hotels - The Ritz-Carlton Orlando and the JW Marriott Orlando – you’ve never played in front of a gallery like this one.
Verdict: This is no stereotypical resort layout. This is wide open course with generous open landing areas and multiple tees. The bunkers are often deep, placed by Greg, undoubtedly with glee. The greens are fast, but easy to read, especially when you have one of the Ritz-Carlton Golf Caddies to do it for you. The course is beautiful, challenging and a joy to play. Highly recommended.
