How to Cure Sticky Dry Eyes
- 1). Boil water in a small sauce pan. Remove the pan from the heat source.
- 2). Insert a bag of chamomile tea into the water. Allow the tea to infuse the water for approximately 15 minutes.
- 3). Dampen a cotton ball with the cooled tea water so that it is moist, but not dripping.
- 4). Wipe the affected eye from the inside, along the lash line, to the outside.
- 5). Repeat the process with a new cotton ball, until there is no stickiness visible on the eye.
- 1). Visit your family physician. Explain your symptoms and ask if an antibiotic is warranted.
- 2). Select antibiotic drops or ointment. Ointment is usually easier to apply to young children, though it can cause blurred vision for several minutes.
- 3). Use the prescription until it is gone. This will help to prevent recurrence.
- 1). Determine if your conjunctivitis might be due to allergies.
- 2). Take an antihystamine. This will help relieve sticky and dry eye symptoms caused by allergies.
- 3). Avoid allergens that may be contributing to your irritated eyes. Triggers may include pets, dust mites and pollen. Wash bedding and clothes to remove traces of these allergens.
