Rameshwaram is an island situated in the Gulf of Mannar at the tip of the Indian peninsula. It is known as the Varanasi of South India and part of the Char Dham pilgrimages. This conch shaped Island is spread over an area of 31 miles in length and 7 miles in width and connected to the mainland through the Pamban Bridge. According to Hindu mythology Ramayana this is the place from where Lord Rama built a bridge Ram Setu (also known as Adam's Bridge) across the sea to Lanka to rescue his consort Sita from her abductor Ravana. With this spiritual linkage Rameshwaram is also famous known for its pulsating natural beauty.

Ramanatha Swamy Temple:
It is among of the most important Temples of Rameshwaram visited by every visitors of this place. The temple houses one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India and according to legend it is believed that the foundation of this Lord Shiva temple was laid by lord Rama himself after his victory over demon king Ravana. This temple is a perfect piece of Dravadian architectural style and houses the largest temple corridor in India. It has 1219 pillars which are elegantly carved and adorned with several mythological figures of deity and celestial nymph. The most stunning attraction of this temple is its forty wells whose water tastes differently.

Dhanushkodi:
It is at the eastern end of the island at a distance of 8 km from Rameshwaram. This is located near the Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean on the other side and named after Rama's bow. The seas are in the shape of bow and arrow when viewed from the top, which given the name of this place. Apart from this legendary connection it is known for its scenic natural beauty of azure sea, silvery sand and blue sky.

Five Faced Hanuman Temple:
It is the other most famous attractions of this place where devotees come to worship Five Faced Hanuman (Hindu Monkey God). According to legend it is believed that at this place Lord Hanuman revealed his profile as one having five faces and was decorated with senthooram after the revelation. With this the famous attraction of this place is a floating stone which was used in the construction of the stone bridge across the sea.
Some of the other attractions of this place are Gandamadana Parvatham, Agnitheertham, Adam's Bridge, Ramjharoka Temple and Erwadi.
