- 1). Place algae in direct sunlight.
- 2). Submerge algae in water. Depending on its species, the algae will either convert the water to carbohydrates or feed off the nutrients found in water.
- 3). Allow at least 4 hours to pass. You must allow adequate sunlight each day in order for the algae to produce enough food.
