The Story Of A Successful Artist
Usually knowing if the receiver liked the gift takes some time.
It might be more agonizing if it were the President you were giving the gift to.
A visitor's log had to be signed beforehand and then she could proceed to hand her present.
The package was of Little Man the president's horse and the guard was then the one in charge of finally delivering it to him.
A native from Old National Pike where she lives with her son and husbands this artist is an animal painter.
With her interest in portraiture and love for animal she now has made this into her very own business.
That love of animals has successfully turned into a money making business after her son was born and is thriving pretty well.
She draws from the pictures of the animals taken by the owners or her using her pastels.
For the horse portraits, she uses show photos are her guide.
After working with various animals such as horses, cats, dogs, a goat, parakeets and guinea pigs, she claims they all have a special place with her.
Making portraits for animals with fur is nothing new to her, but she hopes to venture in to oil paintings soon for turtles and maybe even do fishes.
With the portraits she has been doing she sees to it that the animals are painted in their best shape possible.
It was her idea to paint Little Man and wanting to for so long, she contacted the first lady at last for a few photos.
After a month or so she was able to hear back from the Special Assistant to the President and Director of Correspondence and get photographs of the president and the horse.
The usual way she worked with animal portraits was not followed it this project.
Pictures alone are not enough to paint an animal which is why typically she would always visit the pet and the owner.
Later on as the project was still going on, Little Man passed.
For her, she just wants the portrait to mean something to the president now.
There were four stages involved in her work, which she made sure she finished.
With pastel she made an outline making sure she was able to distinguish the different tones.
With her fingers she carefully blended in the color making sure the parts she wanted was covered well.
Adding a bland background was the next stage and in this case Little Man got on in light blue.
Lastly, it was important to make it look real.
She has spent most of her time getting the image to resemble reality.
She created a portrait of Little Man because she was interested in animals.
It is in Poolesville where you can find her horse since she herself loves them.
Along with her horse is a cat, a dog and a goat.
She takes pride in the portrait that she has created for the president and is glad she did it.
