How to Give a cat eye Drops

    • 1). Choose a moment to give eye drops when your cat is already calm and resting. Pick up the cat gently and caress him in your lap. If your cat tends to struggle excessively, you can gently wrap him in a towel both to help keep him steady and to prevent scratching.

    • 2). Use your non-dominant hand to firmly but gently hold the cat's head. Position your hand to support the cat's chin while at the same time pulling the skin down carefully below the eye. As the skin pulls down, you will be able to see a pink, flesh pouch where you should drop the medicine.

    • 3). Hold the eye drops in your opposite hand and place the tip of the bottle close to the pouch without touching the eye. Hold your hand as steady as possible and drop in the recommended number of drops. Release your hand and add drops in the same fashion to the other eye, if treating both eyes.

    • 4). Keep your cat in your lap for a few minutes after inserting the drops. Once released, the cat will quickly flee and then rub her paws on her eyes. Eye drops should remain on the eyes for three to five minutes before rubbing, or the cat may rub them away.
