Interactive Technology for Symptom Monitoring in Fibromyalgia

Conclusions

Monitoring subtle changes in symptoms as a cue for taking appropriate action is a key element of self-management. Patients valued the use of the mobile device as a way to monitor symptoms over time. Understanding and responding to data trends is viewed as an adjunct to managing symptoms. Monitoring using a mobile device was well accepted by participants; however, a balance needs to be achieved between addressing symptoms without forcing the individual to place undue attention on them. Findings from this study suggest that use of a mobile device and monitoring software has potential to help patients better manage this chronic condition.
