The coolest baby names for 2011 are the ones that are the most unique.
Parents need to do a lot of research, and most do, spending countless hours online looking up possibilities.
They also turn to family and friends for ideas and feedback, the latter of which may not be the best choice.
In my personal opinion, I think that parents should discuss their ideas together and not share their name options with friends and family until the baby is actually born.
This way, everyone is anxiously awaiting the news to hear the announcement that the baby has arrived and the name is revealed.
It makes it exciting to everyone.
Old fashioned names are making a comeback in 2011.
Girl's titles such as Victoria, Evelyn, and Lillian are making a run for the top.
Boy's monikers such as Benjamin, Nathan, and Isaac are becoming more and more popular.
But the trends are that the coolest ones are the ones that are not in the top 20, top 50 or even top 100 on the Social Security Administration's Popular Baby Names list.
Parents who want to give their baby a designation which is unique, but not too far out there (think Apple and Suri), can use the SSA baby names website to search the popularity of the names they are considering for their baby.
It's a fun way to look up new ideas and it can give you an idea of how many other kids named Luke would be in their child's future Kindergarten class.
Another great source of ideas comes from the celebrity gossip magazines out there.
When you are in line to pay at the grocery store, pick one up and flip through the pages and you are bound to see what the movie stars are naming their kids.
You never know, you might just get the perfect cool baby name for your little bundle of joy by reading People magazine!
