Sourcing Construction Solutions

Choosing the right construction solutions company can make or break your construction project no matter how large or small. A good construction company can help your project be delivered on time and under budget, whilst using a company with poor procedures can have serious financial repercussions for your business. So just how do you go about sourcing construction solutions?

Step 1 – Analyse the company's case studies

Any reputable construction solutions provider should have gathered an impressive range of past projects that they have worked on. The first step of the process when sourcing construction solutions should be to look in detail at a company's case studies – judging whether they are a company that you would want to work with. You should seek testimonials from the company's previous clients and pursue these contacts with the aim of finding out more about the service that they received. Enquire as to whether or not the construction company stuck to the client's budget and timeframe – this will give you a good indication of how they price and how they manage a construction project.

Step 2 – Check if the company is compliant to current construction regulations

Once you have established a construction company whose work you like the look of, the next thing you should do is double check whether the company is compliant with current governmental construction legislation. It is your right, as a potential employer, to ask to see a company's safety plan, to see how they handle the environmental health and safety auditing of their projects, which should be updated when and if you give them your specification.

Step 3 – Test how easy it is to get in touch with the right people

Communication plays a big part in any construction project. As the potential employer of such a firm, you should make it your business to ensure that you can get in touch with exactly the right people at your chosen construction company easily, so that you can discuss the project as it proceeds through the phases, and to ensure that everything is going to plan.

Step 4 – If in doubt, choose a company that's been kicking around awhile

If you have created a shortlist of companies and are struggling with making a decision, consider the company which has been around the longest. Construction companies stand the test of time if they are an honest, upfront, and compliant company who are honest about their prices and stick to deadlines. Whilst the likelihood is that older companies will charge fractionally more than newer companies who are more desperate for work, its relatively fair to say that your project's outcome will be of higher quality – and is less likely to run over budget.
