How Do You React When a Friend Gets Cancer?

There is nothing that can shake your stance like finding out somebody like a close family member or friend has been diagnosed with cancer.
Here are a couple of pointers that should help you regain your stance.
1.
Realize that it was not your doing - You have to know that none of your deeds could have possibly caused your loved one to get cancer.
You have to let that thought go and focus on how you can help them fight it.
2.
You are not a healer - If it is your child that has been diagnosed with some sort of cancer it will be up to you to make the important decisions for them.
If it is an adult then all you can do is be there for them in all the ways that you can.
You however cannot heal them of their cancer.
Your support and any other form of assistance that you can offer within your means is all that you can do for them.
The rest will be up to their own conviction and strength to beat cancer.

Cancer does not replace your loved one with somebody different - It is of course a challenge to battle cancer and you will see some changes in the person both physically and personality wise.
This however does not mean that you have lost the person that you once knew and had them replaced by somebody else.
4.
It is not a mistake to feel like you need some help and support yourself - You too will have challenges in your path that were not present before just like your loved one with cancer.
It is totally reasonable for you to also seek some counseling to help you deal with what lies ahead.
5.
Do not feel helpless - There are some things that you obviously cannot do about the situation but there are a lot of things that you can do to make the road smoother.
Do not feel like nothing you do will make the situation any better.
