- 1). Check for cheap one way airline tickets on your favorite travel site on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Airlines release new flights for purchases on these days and if you check early in the morning, you will have a better chance of finding bargain tickets.
- 2). Be sure to look at discount airlines such as Southwest , Jet Blue, Airtran airways etc. who sell tickets by one-way segments. These airlines do not penalize flyers for purchasing one way tickets.
- 3). Sometimes it is cheaper to buy round trip airline and not take the return leg of the flight. You should make the return flight date as far out as possible in case you do want to use it at that later date. Alternatively, many airlines will give you a partial refund or credit if you cancel the second leg of your flight.
- 4). If you are not sure if you will be to find cheap one way airline tickets for your trip, consider buying a fully refundable ticket. You can cancel the ticket before the flight if you find a cheaper ticket.
