What Takes Ink out of a Dryer
- Bleach is not only a disinfectant but a strong chemical that removes stains from inside dryer drums. Wear gloves whenever you are handling it to make sure it doesn't irritate your skin. Keep it away from children and pets and keep them away from the area while you are working to prevent accidental ingestion. To use bleach, soak a clean cloth in bleach and rub it over the dryer surface until it is clean. Rinse the area well with water and dry with a clean cloth.
- Rubbing alcohol will help remove the resins that bind the ink to the inside of the dryer. Rubbing alcohol is a mild solvent that is not as pungent or toxic as bleach. Soak a clean cloth in rubbing alcohol and blot ink stains until they are completely soaked and the ink transfers completely to the cloth. Use a new cloth or more rubbing alcohol as needed.
- Acetone is another strong solvent that will help remove resins in the ink that bind it to the dryer surface. Acetone is also a common ingredient in paint thinners so it may remove the finish on your dryer. Test a small area first. To use acetone, blot a small amount on the dryer with a clean cloth until the ink stain is gone. Rinse the area with clear water and dry it completely.
- Baking soda is a mild abrasive cleaning solution that can remove ink from some surfaces. If the ink stain on your dryer is mild, the baking soda may be able to remove it or at least lighten it. To use it, add just enough water to baking soda to make a thick paste. Rub the paste into the dryer surface until it is completely clean. Rinse the area with clear water and dry it completely.
