When you hear the term "home remedy," you may get the impression that it is some sort of mystical type of concoction, passed down from ancient sages and only the select few can access the information.
This is not the case! Bad breath home remedies are simple, household ingredients and actions that are for everybody, not just the select few.
Find a remedy that works for you, or try them all for the best results.
There are many herbs, drinks, and foods that can prove to remedy breath odors.
Some are regional remedies, but thanks to modern supermarkets, almost all these remedies are available to anyone.
If you don't see ingredients for a certain cure in your area, then you can usually find a replacement or simply move on to a different cure.
Some foods work to freshen breath.
While this is a temporary solution, it's great to use in a pinch.
Chewing sunflower seeds after eating will help freshen the breath (make sure to drink a glass of water afterwards).
Chewing mint leaves or a mint product is a well known and time tested breath freshener.

Parsley doesn't come with every meal, but you can request it and most restaurants will accommodate you.
Of course, you could also add parsley to your grocery list and eat it at home.
Here is another home remedy with a very common ingredient: lemons.
If you gargle lemon juice several times a day, you will notice an immediate improvement to your breath.
Green tea is another drink that improves breath, as well as pineapple juice.
It may seem unbelievable, but apples are also great at countering bad breath.
These cures are less of fresheners, and more active in fighting the bacteria in your mouth.
Removing bacteria is the way to keep breath fresh for the long term, and any remedy that assists in fighting bacteria should take precedence.
Also, foods that are rich in zinc are bacteria-fighting and should be included in the diet.
Besides food and drinks, there are various home remedy ingredients that can also help your breath.
Mixing baking soda and water creates a gargling agent that is particularly effective for fighting bad breath.
The same could be said for hydrogen peroxide (it is safe to brush with or gargle).
Although not really a home remedy, it is worth noting that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Properly maintaining the health of your mouth is the key to preventing bad breath in the first place.
Do not let bits and pieces of food live in your mouth.
This is what attracts bacteria and invites it to stay.
If bacteria is a mainstay in your mouth, you can guarantee bad breath no matter how many remedies you invoke to fight it.
So here's your plan in a nutshell: brush your teeth and floss multiples times a day, visit your dentist twice a year, and use the above mentioned home remedies as necessary.
