Horse-drawn carriage was an integral part of the transport system in Kolkata (then Calcutta) during the British rule. It was mainly used by the aristocratic class. It is no more a part of the transport network in cosmopolitan Kolkata. However, tourists in the city can have a joyous ride on flamboyantly decorated horse-drawn carriages which ply only at Maidan.

Nandan is a huge cultural complex in the heart of Kolkata. A few steps away from Rabindra Sadan Metro station, Nandan is a hub of Bengali art and culture. The complex consist of auditoriums and theaters where plays are staged, art exhibitions are held, book fairs are organized, and other cultural programs are hosted throughout the year.
