Boutique hotels have become the destination of choice for business travelers and tourists alike because of their unique combination of luxury, personalized service and stylish accommodations. While these luxury hotels can be found in virtually everywhere in the world, there are some places which are centers for some of the best boutique hotels. Check out some of them below.

New York is one of the birthplaces of the boutique hotel, since Morgans Hotel, which is generally acknowledged as one of the earliest boutique hotels, was founded here in 1984 by Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell. Morgans, along with many other boutique hotels from the Schrager era, still remain open and have since been joined by many others, most of which are congregated around the Midtown and downtown Manhattan areas.

San Francisco's Bedford Hotel was another pioneer in promoting the burgeoning boutique hotel concept when it was first introduced in the 1980s. Currently, the city is home to some of the world's best boutique hotels where guests can enjoy luxury accommodations while enjoying some of San Francisco's famous attractions such as the Golden Gate Bridge, North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf.

London also helped to spark the birth of the boutique hotel concept with the opening of Blakes in South Kensington in 1981, followed by Dorset Square in 1985. London luxury boutique hotels are mainly concentrated around the West End area, particularly Mayfair, although many townhouses all over the city have also re-branded themselves as boutique hotels.

It should not be surprising that there are also many luxury boutique hotels congregated in one of the world's most romantic cities, Paris. Paris boutique hotels combine a sophisticated ambiance with classic architecture and couture style, without neglecting the modern amenities that every traveler demands. These luxury hotels can be found both at the city center as well as some of its quieter neighborhoods.

Boutique hotels have become increasingly popular in East Asian cities such as Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia, catering to both tourists and an increasingly affluent local population. But Thailand has become one of the centers for the boutique hotel concept in Asia, particularly around resort areas such as Phuket and Hua Hin.
