A biopsy is a procedure that removes some tissue or cells that can be seen under the microscope. Biopsies from your nodes or other tissues are absolutely essential to correctly diagnose lymphoma.

A biopsy is called 'incisional' when a small cut is made on your skin and a very small amount of tissue is removed. 'Excisional' biopsy refers to the removal of an entire lymph node or part of tissue.
