    • Indoor museums make a great rainy-day activity, and the city of Los Angeles has several. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has 100,000 modern and antique objects among its galleries. Open six days a week and closed Wednesdays, the museum draws almost one million visitors each year. The Grammy Museum opened in 2008 to celebrate the Grammy Awards and recorded music in general. The museum features four floors of Grammy artifacts and interactive exhibits that take visitors behind the scenes of the recording process. The J. Paul Getty Museum, which focuses on the visual arts, offers free admission every day.

    Celebrity Culture

    • Many people know Los Angeles for its glitz and glamour. To get your fill of celebrity culture, you may want to consider heading to Hollywood Boulevard to take visit the Kodak Theatre, the permanent site of the annual Academy Awards. The venue offers daily guided tours that include a chance to see an Oscar statue in person. If the rain's not too hard, grab an umbrella and stroll down the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where you can see the stars more than 2,400 entertainers. You can also experience Hollywood by getting free tickets to a talk show or sitcom taping.

    Sports and Recreation

    • Even indoors, you can partake in outdoor activities at Rockreation, a gym that offers 9000 square feet of rock climbing facilities, including a bouldering room. Rockreation also has a weight room and yoga instruction. Guests can purchase one-day or monthly passes and rent shoes and harnesses. For a different form of recreation, Los Angeles has bowling alleys scattered around the city, including Lucky Strike, an upscale alley with nearly as many big-screen televisions as bowling lanes. Open until at least 1 am every night, Lucky Strike enforces a dress code after 7 pm.

    Shopping

    • Los Angeles has no shortage of trendy shopping areas. On Robertson Boulevard in Beverly Hills you can find Kitson, a hip clothing boutique, and Ivy and the Newsroom Café, two popular restaurants. The Rodeo Drive-Wilshire Boulevard area has upscale stores like Chanel and Saks Fifth Avenue. Melrose Avenue and the Beverly Center offer stylish shops as well, while at Sunset Plaza, you can relax with a drink and people-watch.
