Angler Fish Crafts
- Create an Angler fish mask out of a paper-mache. Inflate a balloon and cover it with newspaper strips and paper-mache mixture. Once it dries, pop the balloon and cut a hole in the side of the shape that is large enough for a head. Cut eye holes to create the mask. Paint the angler fish mask brown or grey. Stick a pipe cleaner through the top of the mask to represent the lure and complete the mask.
- Create an undersea diorama that features an angler fish model. Use a shoe box as the base for the diorama. Paint the inside of the box blue and paint a few green colored sea plants into the scene. Glue some plastic plants to the floor of the box and cover the rest of the base with gravel. Make an angler fish model out of clay, paint it and set it inside the box. Use toothpicks to represent the fish's teeth.
- Create an angler fish pinata to use at an under-the-sea themed party. Fill a paper bag with candy and ocean-themed small toys. Tie the end of the bag closed with a piece of string. Paint the bag brown or grey and add googly eyes and a painted mouth. Cut a piece of paper to form the appendage and glue it to the top of the bag. Suspend the bag from the ceiling and use a bat to open the pinata.
- Other angler fish crafts include making a puppet that looks like the fish. Use a paper bag and paint. Use a pipe cleaner to create the appendage on the fish's head. Another angler fish craft is to cut the fish's shape out of brown or grey felt. Put a large piece of blue felt onto a bulletin board to look like water. Make sea plants out of green felt. Use the pieces to create a flannel graph and tell a story about an angler fish. Make other fish out of other colored felt.
