There is a very old saying in concern to the correlation between horses and hearts, and that old saying is that "Horses have five hearts." When horses develop thrush it becomes a serious condition that not only affects the horses skin but it also causes problems to the horse in concern to blood circulation and in whether or not, the bacterial infection that causes this condition is going to hinder the horse from doing the two most important things it can do which are eating and walking.

A horse has a part inside of their foot that is called the laminae and in this part of their foot they have a part where the blood circulates and in this part there is going to be a tendon, and if the horse has developed thrush the unfortunate problem is that there is going to be a bacterial infection with a nasty odor in this part of their body. Now what causes thrush in horses is hard to get a finger on and understand because each horse is different and are affected by it differently, but one factor that has been known to cause this condition in the fact that they are dirty stalls very often.

What I mean by dirty is that these stalls will be completely covered in manure and urine, and in situations like this bacteria is sure to thrive and grow and affect the horse in ways that the thrush is sure to occur in their body. It is absolutely important to clean out the stalls often so that the horses are safe and healthy, and it is important to do it as thoroughly as possible. It is also important to supply the stalls with daily fresh shavings and straw as well and this is because of the fact that if you don't replace these things on a daily basis bacteria is going to grow so the horses will be practically eating bacteria making it easier for them to develop thrush.

Thrush affects the feet and the legs of horses in terrible ways where blood flow and circulation is practically non-present, and in circumstances like this the horse can develop my canker or lameness which are both very serious and painful conditions. Right now in the market we are living in today, there are many different treatments and medications to help people who have thrush, and in some cases these prescribed medications work and sometimes they don't.

Personally there's an old natural remedy for using iodine and bleach water as a way of brushing into the horses skin help get rid of brush on their bodies.
