Hard Floor Surfaces and Their Cleaning
What I have come to realize that there weren't any big difference between the types of mops and such. They are all the same. But what about the steam mops, have ever heard of it? These devices that are made to be used with so-called eco-friendly detergents. I find those devices an interesting alternative to the regular bucket and mop.
But are these new kind of cleaning tools worth the extra dough? Will they make your floors shiner than before? You know, it would be better if you get first know and understand how these steam mops are working.
As every device they vary in numerous of brands and although that they seems to operate in different ways, their feature remain the same. Unfortunately there are corded based units, needing an electricity to heat the water, few are the models that are without cable but more expensive, and I think they do not worth the money.
With what you actually clean is a mop on its base covered with reusable and washable pad.
The cleaning is started either by pushing a handle or pulling a trigger and then the steam is released to the pad. The pads along with the steam involved in the cleaning process help the pad to collect many of the dirt.
In some commercial I was seeing how the people from the TV box explaining me, that having a steam mop for your hard floors will sanitize them and such, also the most cleaning products guaranteed that they will disinfect and sanitize the floors are false statements. And even is that so, the effect is no more than twenty minutes. So basically, all that crap is a myth.
Further more, you must also take into mind that these devices are not having vacuum capabilities and are not sweepers. They are not built with the intention to pick up any dirt particles. Prior to use, the are must be cleaned with vacuum cleaner of course, so be advised on that matter. It is important execute firstly vacuum cleaning, the chances to scratch the hard floor surface afterwards with the cleaning pad is quite big.
The unsealed wooden hard floors could be easily ruined by the steam mops. If the joints are not sealed good enough, the steam will get deep between them and make the wood go expand. Also I have heard that the cleaning process with these mops could damage surfaces without wax on them.
These domestic steam mops are meant only to be used with water, forget the idea mixing a detergent with water in these machines. Despite they can be used with tap water, every manufacturer is recommending to be used a distilled water. Even that you will not pay additionally for cleaning detergents and mops and buckets. Having this machines also has its own consumable parts, and will be the other regular expense. Filters, cleaning pads or broken parts even.
If you think about it, if you subscribe with some locally-based cleaning firm for regular cleaning it would be almost the same price in time as they are coming with their own machines and cleaning solutions. Besides you save time too.
