Depression From Alcohol Abuse

Depression is a condition that is highly susceptible to many means of attempted liberation.
Drugs, tobacco, cannabis and alcohol abuse are chosen by depressed people as means of escape.
These substances generate a lot of effects that can change a person's mood.
Ultimately, though, they all can lead to dependence and addiction.
Substance abuse (like alcohol abuse) and depression are parts of a destructive cycle.
Depression can be promoted by substance abuse and consequently, substance abuse can give way to depression.
Thus, it's no easy feat for an addict to escape from both.
Freedom can only be achieved if an addict seeks assistance.
Morphine and other opioids bring about instant depression the minute the addict takes them.
They decrease neorological and physical activities, as well as rational capacities.
Other substances, though, give a false happy feeling initially before depression manifests.
Meth and angel dust are examples.
If a certain drug is abused, the chemical signals carried by the receptors in the brain that facilitate mood and behavior will not be read properly by the brain nerves.
Thus, a malabsorption of dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine occurs and paves the way for depression.
The 'high' from the drugs replace the neurotransmitters in the brain.
The brain will keep asking for the 'high' and addiction sets in.
An addict will then find it hard to completely put a stop to the drug use.
Also, if an addict unexpectedly quits his/her drug intake, withdrawal symptoms will manifest.
Depression occurs during the period of tolerance or during the withdrawal period.
Withdrawal symptoms vary and depend on the type of drug abused.
If a downer was abused, vital signs will increase.
Vital signs will decrease if the drug abused was an upper or stimulant.
And needless to say, depression is already a problematic condition.
It's rife with issues that may be very harmful not only to the depressed person but also to those around him/her.
So, if you are suffering from alcohol addiction or any other form of substance dependence, or you know someone who is, ask for medical help.
