DIY Knight Costume From a Sweatshirt
- 1). Measure the length from your shoulders to six inches below your knee. Multiple that number by two. Measure the width of your body from shoulder to shoulder. Cut a piece of muslin fabric to match these two measurements.
- 2). Fold the edges of the fabric over 1/4-inch. Use straight pins to hold the fabric in place. Sew along the folded edges to create a hem, using a sewing machine. Remove the pins.
- 3). Fold the fabric in half along the shoulder measurement edge. Cut a half circle out of the center of the fabric, large enough for your head to create a tunic. Discard the cutout section. If desired, fold the edges of the neck hole over and sew with a sewing machine.
- 4). Draw the design of a coat of arms on the tunic using a fabric pen and then paint it in using fabric paints. Alternatively, use a stamp and fabric paints instead. Another option is to dye the fabric with fabric dye to achieve a base color. Once the dye dries, use the fabric paints to create a design. Let all paints and dyes dry overnight.
- 5). Wear a grey hooded-sweatshirt and a pair of grey sweatpants. Wear the hood up to represent the knight’s helmet.
- 6). Place the completed coat of arms tunic over top of the sweat suit. Wear a pair of black or grey shoes.
