How to Strap Down a Honda Shadow

    • 1). Gently pull the Honda Shadow onto the trailer or into the truck bed. If you don't have a motorcycle ramp to get the motorcycle into your truck bed, you can easily use a long board to load the bike. Just be sure that the board is long and sturdy enough to accommodate the motorcycle.

    • 2). Pull the motorcycle fully into the front of the bed or trailer, pressing its front tire against any securing edge. If the trailer has a motorcycle tire bracket, make sure the bracket is secure before securing the bike next to it.

    • 3). Place standard tie-downs in tie hooks on both sides of the motorcycle's handlebars. Secure the side furthest from the tightening clip to the bed of the truck or trailer. You want the tightening clip side to be secured to the motorcycle.

    • 4). Secure the other side of the tie-downs to the inset on the handlebars of the motorcycle. Face the open side of the hooks towards yourself. This will prevent them from slipping off.

    • 5). Compress the front suspension on the motorcycle by leaning forward and pressing down on the handlebars. As you hold the suspension down, tighten the clips on both of the tie-downs as evenly as possible. This will cinch up the tie-downs and pull the motorcycle forward and down.

    • 6). Once the bike is fully secured, tie a simple knot with the slack leftover on both tie-downs. This will simply help the tie-downs from slipping and coming loose.
