Getting Your Private Pilot"s License - Get the Importance of Mindset - Part 2
Set Your VOR Most likely you've gone over your flight plan with your examiner so you already know what VOR you're going to be using.
So set this BEFORE you actually start flying.
Get it out of the way so you're not distracted during your exam.
The reason for this is simple.
You're going to be nervous enough as it is.
The less you have to do during the exam itself, the better.
And since this is something that can be done ahead of time,do it.
Watch The Weather You'll never believe how many people schedule their exams without giving a second thought to what the weather is going to be like.
Do you really want to fly your plane in the middle of a hurricane? It's a simple tip but a very important one.
Watch the local weather, especially the 5 day forecast.
Make sure the day you choose for your exam looks like it's going to be a good one.
You'll have enough things to worry about without having to worry about this.
Now, having said that, unfortunately, weather forecasts become increasingly inaccurate a time goes on.
Truth is, a poor weather forecast is only good for about 2 to 3 hours and normal forecasts are only good for 24 to 48 hours.
So take this advice for what it's worth to you.
If the day of your scheduled exam comes and the weather is not what you expected, cancel.
Claim that you have the flu if you have to, but don't take your exam.
Bad weather is the single biggest cause of failed exams.
Don't let acts of God determine whether or not you get your PPL.
Get To Know Your Instructor There is an old saying,it's not what you know but WHO you know.
As much as I hate to admit this, establishing a good relationship with your instructor BEFORE you take your test is a must.
Have you ever gone for a driving test and just knew you were going to fail because the instructor was in a sour mood that day? Instructors are human beings.
They have good days and bad days.
So if you've established a relationship with yours BEFORE you actually go up there, you stand a better chance than if you keep at a distance.
Not the sociable type? Get over it,quickly.
