With its seaside theme evident in printed pants, sailor stripes and boat shoes you could be excused for thinking the inspiration for Karen Walker spring summer 2010 collection comes more from "Cowes" when in reality its actually from cult sixties television show "The Prisoner".
The Prisoner is famed for its location, Portmeirion in Wales.
With its beautiful Edwardian styling its no surprise it was such an inspiration for the Karen Walker 2010 spring summer collection which draws on Edwardian frills, sailor stripes and navy blazers.
Not only can we see the influence of the location, the story line of the prisoner was incarceration in a resort like prison.
This juxtaposition of holiday as internment is evident in the use of extravagant gold zips on a cropped navy trench, while an olive PVC rain slicker closes with oversized gold buttons.
With this in mind Karen Walkers' striped chiffon drape dress was instantly elevated from simply beautiful to more a whirlwind romance between the high seas and to be quite blunt jail.
And in Karen Walker's seaside idyll, the humble deck shoe is no longer rendered in its typical dull boring brown but in vibrantly bright yellows which can be accompanied with sun hats glowing in the same bright yellow.
Fashion can be written off for being superficial but that's only if you don't look at the whole story and this sentiment has clearly left an impression on Karen Walker who has once again produced a truly stylish and fun collection for her spring summer 2010.
