Now summer is fast approaching, kids wants nothing more than to have fun, fun and more fun after the whole school stuff.  Most likely here in New England, it is always the favorite choice for most parents, based on factors that are most important to them. Gladly Camp Walt Whitman meets all of these needs and more.

We are proud to say that our camp is located in a secure woodland setting, far from any main highway or thoroughfare. Yet we are still only 35 minutes from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital, an excellent medical facility, it's all about getting a strategic place close to places where during emergencies it is always convenient. Prevention is the foundation of health care at Camp Whitman. When accidents or illness occur we are fully equipped and prepared to attend 24 hours a day.

Emotional well-being is also at our top most priority, we do everything possible to make sure your children are getting the best emotional treatment. Cabin assignments are based on your children's personal needs and interests. Primary reason why we ask you and your children need to fill out a camp biography. When we know their favorite activities and goals we can make the best possible cabin assignment for them.

We take pride with the food served in our facilities, children loves the excellent healthy dishes available to them. There is always fresh fruit, a daily grill, salad bar, pasta, soup, and sandwiches to eat. Nothing beats the home-made baked good, always the best. We offer gluten-free options. Meal time is also the best social time; kids sit with friends, groups to encourage friendships, with our dining hall viewing the spectacular lake and mountain providing a serene space of a family atmosphere.

Most coed summer camp is a place where special friendships are nurtured that is for keeps.  The Cabin Group becomes an extension of every child's family. They live together and participate in activities together throughout the day. Respect and acceptance are modeled by the three staff members who live with the children in the cabin. Two of the staff members are the counselors who stay with the children all day and the third is the activity specialist.
