A History of Vivienne Westwood
It was in 1961 that Vivienne met Derek Westwood, who at the time was a Hoover factory apprentice and whom she later went on marry on 21st July 1961, and she actually designed and made her own wedding dress. The couple later went on to have a son, Benjamin Westwood, who was born in 1963.
In 1971 Vivienne met Malcolm McLaren and unfortunately this signified the end of her relatively short marriage to Derek. Malcolm then decided to open a Boutique on the infamous King' Road in Chelsea in London where Vivienne started to sell some of her own creations. During this period Malcolm was the manager of the Rock Band " The Sex Pistols" whom regularly wore Vivienne's outlandish designs and the often frequented the shop on King's road to purchase her latest designs.
Since then the Brand has evolved and Westwood has become one of the most prestigious Design Houses on the current fashion market. Westwood now has five exclusively owned shops which consist of three in London, one in Leeds, and one in Milan. Additional to this she has numerous franchise stores which are located in Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow, three in Manchester City and the two most recent franchises which are located in the trendy shopping mall "FH Mall" in Nottingham, and on the design savvy street Blake Street in York.
The designer Westwood is an Globally recognized, and well respected, brand that is favoured by fashion conscious individuals everywhere. Her quirky pieces are regularly seen on the Red Carpet and at most major events. With her promise to deliver high quality fashionable clothing to meet all individuals needs Westwood is a strong now as she has ever been.
