How do I Program a Car Remote for a 1995 Ford Contour?

    • 1). Open the Contour's glove box. Remove any items that may be inside, and then push together the glove box walls from the outside edge. This releases the stops from the hinge, and allows you to lower the glove box doors. Carefully pull the glove box down to access the area behind it.

    • 2). Find the programming connector directly behind the glove box door. This is an electrical connector that has nothing plugged into it.

    • 3). Insert the key into the Contour's ignition. Turn it to "On" without cranking the engine. Insert the jumper pin into the programming connector. Insert one side of the pin into each hole (there are two holes). You should hear the horn sound. Remove the jumper pin.

    • 4). Press either "Lock" or "Unlock" on the remote. The horn will sound again, letting you know the remote was accepted. Press either "Lock" or "Unlock" on an additional remote, if you are programming two.

    • 5). Turn the key to "Off." The horn will sound again, indicating that you have exited programming mode. Lift the glove box door partially, and then squeeze together the sides while lifting up to raise the stops above the hinges. Replace the contents and close the glove box door.
