How to Put Your Own Ringtones on a Motorola Phone

    • 1). Insert the installation disc that came with your Motorola phone into your computer's disk drive if you haven't already installed the Motorola Phone Tools software. Follow the instructions on the screen to install Motorola Phone Tools.

    • 2). Connect the Motorola phone's USB cable to an open USB port on your computer. Turn on the Bluetooth option in the Motorola phone instead if you have a Bluetooth-enabled computer.

    • 3). Open the Phone Tools software. Click "Choose a Profile" and then select "New." Select your model of Motorola phone from the drop-down menu.

    • 4). Click "cable" if you are using a USB cable or "Bluetooth" if you are using a Bluetooth connection. Click "Next" and then "OK".

    • 5). Click "Customize" at the left side of the screen and then select "Melody Editor." Choose "My PC" and then select the audio file on your hard drive that you want to use as a ring tone.

    • 6). Click the "Play" button and watch the bar at the bottom of the screen scroll through the song as it plays. Locate the section of the song that you want to use as the ring tone.

    • 7). Click the starting point where the ring tone should begin. Drag the bar across until you reach the end of the segment you want to use. Choose "Transfer to Phone" to transfer the selected segment of the song to your phone's ringtone folder.
