Pre-Finishing for a Stronger, More Beautiful Door

You can buy a door from a big retail store that's been there for a while and handled by other patrons and may not be of the highest quality.
You can order up a door from somewhere and decide to finish it yourself because you're sure you can do a good job.
Or you can work with a manufacturer that has years and years of experience crafting doors and allow them to provide an excellent pre-finish.
Working with a company that knows doors inside and out is always the best choice.
You get high quality wood handled the way you want it, done in the design that you request, and crafted with the utmost care.
Pre-finishing is one of the highlights of working with a manufacturer because they take their craft so seriously.
It isn't done in a giant warehouse, dozens of doors at a time.
They work with one door at a time and give each door the time it deserves in order to look its most beautiful when it is sent to you.
You should expect some of the following stipulations when working with the right company and purchasing a pre-finished door.
A minimum of 30 minutes for hand-sanding.
This is for a single door.
Machines may be able to do the entire door in a matter of seconds, but with a person taking the time to hand-sand your door, you can be absolutely certain that grain-closure is handled and the door is 100% ready for finishing.
Work is done in a clean room.
This means that after sanding is done, the door is finished in a dust-free environment.
This ensures that the door can be finished without the worry for dust or other random particles to get on the door before finishing is applied.
A finished door should be smooth and gorgeous - not feature tiny bumps or rough spots.
Only the best finishes are used and high quality varnish systems in order to provide you with a door that is exactly what you hoped for.
Moisture is important to deal with when it comes to doors, so a six-sided coating provides an excellent moisture seal on all sides of the door.
This ensures that the product will be protected as best as possible against any future warping.
A warranty should be expected - if you talk to a company and they offer no warranties on their doors, you should walk in the other direction.
A pre-finished door should have a good warranty that lasts as much as five years.
