Gas Welding Safety
- Examine gas welding tools, hoses, and related equipment closely before starting work. Any leaks or hoses that show wear should be replaced. Check the work area to be sure that a fire extinguisher is within reach.
- The worker's eyes are best protected with safety glasses. Clothing should constructed of wool, long sleeved and close fitting. They need to be in good condition with rips or tears. A fire resistant apron and gloves give added protection to skin.

Gas welding is best done in a properly ventilated room. Fumes from the process can be toxic to breathe and reduce the amount of oxygen in the air. Gas welding can also produce gases and dust that can be combustible. Surrounding the work with screen that are flame resistant can reduce the chance of fire. The work should also be kept clean of any items that are easily ignited. - Workers need to be aware of the dangers associated with working in small spaces. Carefully examine the area before work is done for proper ventilation and any flammable items. Any openings need to be set so that they cannot close accidentally.
