How to Install Heavy Duty Truck Bumpers

    • 1). Remove your old truck bumpers. Locate the bolts that hold on the bumper. Most truck bumpers are held on by four bolts in their corners.

    • 2). Soak the bolts with mystery oil or another lubricant that breaks down rust. Then, using your socket wrench and long-arm attachment, turn the bolts counterclockwise, loosening each one until it can be loosened by hand.

    • 3). Kneel down in front of the bumper and support it with your arm. Then remove the bolts by hand and place the bumper on the ground.

    • 4). Thread the hardware for the heavy-duty truck bumpers into the mounting holes on the new bumper and line it up with the mounting holes on the truck. Hand-tighten each bolt until you can't turn it anymore.

    • 5). Tighten each bolt with a socket wrench until it is mildly tight. Make sure the bumper is sitting level and there is nothing between the bumper and the truck. Then tighten each bolt with one final turn of the wrench.
