Norstar Phone Systems are used in large corporate office environments as they can effectively keep all incoming calls on one phone system and separated so that calls can be organized. This allows someone like a receptionist to transfer calls to different people in an office throughout the course of the day, transfer multiple calls into a conference or send calls to a voice mail system. Here are some tips to setting up and using this Norstar system.

    Add a Voice Mail Box

    • To add a voice mail box on the Norstar Phone System, you first need the extension number of the phone you want to add the voice mail box to. Press Feature on the phone and then Enter. When the display shows options of QUIT, RETRY and OK, press OK. Then the display will show MBOX, AA and OTHR. Press MBOX. The display will then show ADD, DEL or CHNG. Press ADD. Then enter the mailbox number extension into the phone and the name of the person who will be receiving messages at that mailbox. These steps can be repeated over and over again to add more people's mailboxes.

    Record Company Greeting

    • Company greetings can be recorded on the Norstar Phone System, to play when the offices are closed or during the holidays for anyone who might be calling. Press the Feature button on the phone and when the display comes up, press the code 1020000 and press OK on the display. The next display will have three options of MBOX, AA and OTHR. Press AA. The next display will have a selection for Auto GRTG, which should be pressed, and then GRTG should be pressed again on the next display screen. This will then take you to a screen that allows you to RETRY, PLAY or REC. Press REC to record a company greeting, and then listen to it afterward, saving it once you are happy.

    Transferring Calls

    • Transferring calls is one of the most important options on a Norsat Phone System, as it is essential that a receptionist gets callers to the person they need to talk to, or for other people to transfer calls from one employee to another. To do this, press the Feature 70 code on the phone or press the transfer button. Then dial the extension number you are transferring the call to. You can either press the Rls button, or wait for the extension to be answered. If no one answers the extension, you can reconnect the caller by pressing the Feature button and then #70.
