How to Cut a Metal Conduit

    • 1). Mark the cut length on a piece of metal conduit with a permanent marker. Spin the conduit 90 degrees and place a second mark. Continue to spin and mark the conduit until you have four cut marks around its circumference.

    • 2). Secure the conduit in a vise with the cut marks sitting two to three inches beyond the edge of the vise jaws.

    • 3). Align the blade of a hacksaw with the cut marks. Hold the piece of conduit extending past the vise with one hand. Pull the hacksaw toward you to score the conduit. Push and pull the hacksaw to cut through the conduit.

    • 4). Slide the blade of a burr removal tool around the inside of the conduit to remove the burr left by the hacksaw.

    • 5). Remove the conduit from the vise.
