Detection of Heart Disease Through Hair

Do not underestimate the condition of the hair. Studies University of Western Ontario, Canada, reveals that the hair can be an indicator of heart health disorders.
As quoted from the page of the Times of India, each strand containing  stress hormone called cortisol. This hormone is normally released when the body's reaction to stress or psychological and physiological changes in circumstances that can not be received.

Cortisol levels are also contained in the urine and saliva. However, cortisol levels in hair is considered more effective for mapping a heart condition because it is more measured. Logically, hair growth is relatively stable believe is about a centimeter every month.
That's important because it allows to see the stress level in over a longer period. Checking six inches hair means can measure the stress level for six months. While examination of cortisol in saliva or urine tends to only show the level of stress for a moment.

The study was conducted by examining hair samples in 56 patients with heart attacks Meir Medical Centre in Kfar-Saba, Israel. Results were compared with hair samples of people who do not have heart health problems. Result, the hair sample patient with heart attacks contain cortisol with levels are very high.

Study author Stan Van Uum and Gideon Koren said, cortisol levels in hair can be a strong predictor of heart attack. "This could be a biological marker of chronic stress triggers heart attacks. Becoming important because preventive measures can be done as early as possible before an attack occurs."
