Fellowships in International Emergency Medicine in the USA
Results
The overall response rate was 60/78 (77%): 31/38 (82%) for PDs, 19/25 (76%) for current fellows, and 10/15 (67%) for recent fellowship graduates. Some respondents 6/78 (8%) did not complete all the questions in the survey.
Exposure to Each Core Curriculum Component
Using a score of 3 (the perfect amount) or higher as the definition of meeting the core curriculum component, only 2/24 (8%) of PDs and 1/18 (6%) of fellows reported meeting all six aspects of proposed core curricula. Responses are shown in figure 1 and Table 1.

Comparison of Responses From PDs versus Fellows
Furthermore, on average PDs reported more exposure than fellows—across all six core curricular components. The difference in mean score between PDs and recent/current fellows was statistically significant (p<0.05) in three core curriculum elements: humanitarian aid, public health and disaster medicine. In addition, the agreement between fellowship directors and fellows within the same institution ranged from poor to fair, as indicated by the κ statistics shown in Table 1 .
