There are many who choose to see the world riding on the motorcycle of their choosing, and more and more are joining these ranks. There is a freedom that comes with riding, the sound of the motorcycle, the feel of the road, the wind, and being one with the surroundings all add to this experience. Along with these reasons each rider has their own personal reasons they ride.
All riders get to have the protection that comes from wearing riding gear. An important piece of riding gear is the leather motorcycle jacket. There are hazards of the road such as rocks, and flying debris, as well as road rash if there is an accident of some kind. This is something that no rider likes to think about, but every rider should be prepared for so the outcome is the best it can be. Wearing a leather motorcycle jacket puts a protective layer of leather between the rider's skin and the asphalt. Riding out on the open road also means there are times when the weather will be cold and wet, or hot and hotter. There are motorcycle jackets that come with features that make them all weather jackets.
There are leather jackets that come with zippered vents. When these vents are zipped open in the front and back, it creates a cooling breeze that circulates around the rider's body inside of the jacket. On really hot days there are riders that will wear a damp t-shirt under their jacket with the vents open to assist in staying cooler. Having a jacket that has a zip out liner is a good idea too. Taking out the liner makes the jacket cooler for the summer months but the jacket still maintains its protective ability. There are also jackets that are made of synthetic fabrics such as Cordura. This is a very abrasive resistant fabric that can be cooler in the heat.
In the winter months where there is no ice and snow riders can continue to ride. Fringe on riding jackets is not just decorative; it helps to wick away the water from the leather keeping it dryer in a rain storm. Having a zip out liner zipped back in adds an extra layer of warmth, as well as zipping closed the vents. There are some jackets for riding that come with a neck warmer. There are also heated riding vests available and heated grips for the handle bars. Wearing full leather gloves keeps the hands warm and protected. It is actually important for a rider to always wear full leather gloves, meaning not fingerless, to protect the hands from serious abrasions.
Riding is an experience like no other, having the proper gear helps the riding experience be everything it can be, keeping the rider comfortable and safe while riding.
