Mind and Body

Take this little trip with me to explore this part of a human factor.
I am not a psychologist or even a therapist, but as a nurse (RN) for many years, I have learned a lot about the human mind and how people think, react, and solve problems.
I hope to study psychology in dept in the future.
I did enjoy my General Psychology classes and found it to be very interesting! Even the study of Children Growth and Development is a great course for everyone.
If you have the knowledge, you have the answers or understanding to many issues that come up when you are interacting with children--be it yours or someone else.
I will be discussing these 3 issues: Conscious Thinking, Subliminal Thinking, Unconscious Thinking Thinking is mostly a conscious phenomena that takes effort in an exchange of ideas that manages to result in a solution, a decision, and action to what is in the present, in the past and possibilities for the future.
What you think about can be conscious, subliminal and sometimes unconscious(as if in a dream).
I find that the practice of knowing, learning and unlearning takes thought.
A thought includes a variety means of analyzing and strategic planning.
This is where the body and mind work together.
Take stress, for an instance, the body reacts to stress in many ways--such as headaches, hives, high blood pressure.
Some people react to stress by maybe moving around more-like going for a walk and other people might go another way such as, lying down or taking a nap.
Who is to say which is the best? Your individual thinking will determine which path to take.
You can control how you respond to stress by making a plan of how you view a problem.
It can be a positive plan.
In your thoughts there will be many voices(I don't mean voices as in delusion, though there could be that connection if the problem is severe) talking to you.
A lot depend on where you are in your life now, your environment, your social group, your present health, your past experience, and your spirituality--also other factors.
The voices we all hear at one time or another are the conscious familiar thoughts such as: "I can do it"; "What can I do?"; "Let me call and find out...
" Some people will bring people from the dead and with thoughts such as: "What would father do if he was here?" "What would grand mom say?" And so you see, another factor that include your social group called, family.
It is a very important factor as the genetic makeup of a person have a lot to do with a person's living experiences, today.
Let's talk about the 3 thinking methods and processes.
Perhaps, you are wondering why I am writing this article.
All I know, is that what I am writing about is very important and with meaning--and it could spark a light at the end of the tunnel.
Also, I believe it is important to understand this so as to see another perspective on how we interact with the mind in relationship to the body.
Thinking Consciously It takes more effort to think in the conscious state because you are in the "now" moment.
You feel, hear, see, and can touch things around you.
The conscious mind is always in a state of planning, figuring something out, and interacting.
Planning what you will do next, planning your response to something, planning your next meal, etc.
Conscious thinking requires focus, enables planning and most of the time executing a plan.
Conscious thinking is great exercise for the brain.
The brain is your very own computer that follows your commands be it good or bad.
Subliminal Thinking In subliminal thinking, you need a catalyst to stimulate a thought.
When you think subliminal thinking, you might look at this as having a prop from which to respond to.
For an instance, you see an apple on the table, and you know it is good for you and you pick it up and eat it; another instance, you're at the supermarket and you see a a large chocolate cake, and you want it evening knowing it will not help you lose the weight you made a New Year's resolution to, and end up buying it.
Subliminal thinking can quicken a good decision or a bad decision.
If it is a bad decision, believe me, you will have it all rationalized and in great detail of why you made THAT decision! Sometimes subliminal thinking can crash.
for example, you have exercise equipment in a corner of your kitchen or near.
Well, there you have it! Thinking good and bad at the same time.
I won't suggest what you should do, because you already know.
Unconscious Thinking This is thinking on auto-pilot.
This is a thinking process when you do something as a routine.
I call it in my terms, "mindless".
Many people have jobs like that.
Somehow, I can't help thinking about the toll collector.
But that is unfair, because you have really got to know math.
I just couldn't do that job because I would be bored to death! A great job if you could hand out brochures to sell you book! Traffic! Traffic! Now back to Unconscious Thinking.
This mode of thinking takes very little effort because it is so routine.
I've heard of people saying, they drove their cars home but do not remember how they got there.
Here, is another example of routine, and repetition to the point of not having to think about it.
Repetition is a tool for remembering.
However, on the other hand, it could be dangerous because, it take a little or no effort.
As one get older, maintaining a monotonous schedule could stagnate ones growth--this could be true for any other age group as well.
To help maintain a healthy mental balance and live a quality life, it is good to make changes in your daily activity.
By being aware of how you are thinking and responding to life, it will heighten your level of awareness, health and intelligence.
We are all living in a rapidly changing time and must adapt to many changes that will affect our life.
In final thought: unconscious thinking, attracting a subliminal thought can lead to a good conscious decision.
