There is a lot of information on the drug therefore it is important for people who are experiencing urinary pains to understand how the drug works, the way it is administered, precautions and its side effects. Therefore this article will explain about these important points about Azo Standard treatment.

How Azo Standard Works
As already mentioned, the drug is used to relieve urinary pain caused by infections as well as irritations caused by bladder operations. When a patient uses Azo Standard, the drug relieves the pain as it is secreted to the lining of the Urinary tract (and thereby affecting the mucosa which is found there). The end result is urinary relief which is felt by the patient.

How it is administered
The recommended dosage of is 2 tablets three times a day. Any dosage above this is highly discouraged unless recommended by a doctor or health professional. In addition, Azo Standard not be taken for more than two days without medical recommendations as this leads to serious side effects which may not only cause serious implications but might also be fatal.

Precautions
Though Azo Standard relieves pain caused by bacterial infections, the drug itself does not kill the organisms. It is a pain reliever. As such, it is advisable for patients to consult their doctors and ask for antibiotics to combat the infections instead of totally relying on the drug.As for those who are taking tests (i.e. doping tests) which require urine samples, it is best to stop taking the drug for a few days. This is recommended because the drug discolors the urine and hence it may affect the test results that are being conducted. Likewise, patients taking urine-dip tests are also advised to take the same precautions, so that doctors can conduct tests to see whether the pain is actually being caused by an infected urinary bladder.

Side Effects
Just like many other medical drugs, Azo Standard has its own side effects. One of these is that the drug discolors the urine. When a person uses the drug, his or her urine turns to a dark orange or reddish color. However, this side effect is not harmful.Feeling dizzy, headaches and upset stomachs are also other side effects of the drug. The upset stomach comes about when a person has not eaten before using Azo Standard. The drug can also cause skin rash, confusion, swelling feet and yellowing of nails. It is also advisable for people who wear contact lenses to remove and stop using them, when taking the drug; the drug permanently discolors contact lenses.
Lastly, also seek a doctor's advice before using Azo Standard as a urinary pain reliever.
