Create Your Own MySpace Layout - Total Customization of Your MySpace Profile in Five Minutes Or Less

If you are into web design in the slightest, an easy way to get your foot in the door is to create your own MySpace layout.
Your MySpace profile is a great way for people to learn about you, your interests, your talents, or your business.
To have a really effective profile, you need to create your own layout.
This may sound like a daunting task, but it's really a simple process.
I make my own layouts all of the time.
It's easy to update at any time so that your profile is always current and fresh.
What you'll need to start with is something called a MySpace background generator.
There are hundreds of options of MySpace background generators, you can find them with an easy Google search.
Most websites that allow you to create your own MySpace layout will have some pre-designed themes, which are a good starting place.
Choose your favorite theme to begin, but know that you can change it later.
Then the real personalization begins.
In any good MySpace background generator, you should have the option to search images via the web, or to upload your own image.
The search route is the easiest option, you can generally find an image of anything that you want somewhere online.
You'll just need to make sure that the image that you choose is an appropriate size so it doesn't get pixilated, and make sure that you are not violating any copyright laws.
When I make a layout, I prefer to upload my own image.
This guarantees that if I make my own MySpace layout, it is totally unique.
I can start off with any image; a picture of myself, a photo that I've taken, or a graphic that I've designed.
Then I usually play around with the MySpace graphics by adding a quotation, some design elements, or even a website url if the MySpace layout is for the purpose of promoting a business.
This is the most fun part of the process of making my own layout.
The image that you are designing will be the background image (or 'wallpaper') of your profile.
Make sure to pay attention to where the content modules fall on your profile so that you can place your design elements in an area that will be visible.
This is key; all of the good design in the world does not matter if it is covered up by your profile content.
There are variations of the profile layout, either as a MySpace 1.
0 layout or a MySpace 2.
0 layout.
Both have advantages and disadvantages, so make your choice and design accordingly.
Note that if you upgrade from a 1.
0 layout to a 2.
0 layout, you need to go back and readjust all of your privacy settings.
MySpace for some reason assumes that if you change to a 2.
0 layout, all of the sudden you are willing to have strangers looking at your profile and they make it public! So if you value your privacy, either keep your old profile style or make sure to update your privacy settings.
If you are using your MySpace layout to promote a business, you probably do want your profile to be public so that more people can find your information.
Your MySpace background generator should produce a code in a computer programming language called a cascading style sheet, or CSS.
You do not have to be an expert in this language to create your own MySpace layout, you simply need to copy and paste that code by using the ctrl+c and ctrl+v (for PCs) or option+c and option+v (for Macs) commands on your computer.
Then proceed to your MySpace profile to place the code.
For a 1.
0 layout, you simply need to paste the code into any of your content areas, the most common placement being the About Me section of your profile.
To create your own 2.
0 MySpace layout, you will need to follow the following links in order:
  1. Profile
  2. Customize Profile
  3. Edit CSS
Simply paste the code in the content area for CSS and save your progress.
The reason I love to make my own MySpace layout is that it is free, it is easy, and it is completely customizable.
I can look at a design I've created and go back through the process again to tweak areas I'd like to improve.
I would highly recommend spending some time to create your own MySpace layout and repeat the process until you are satisfied with the outcome.
