Fable 1 Arthritis is basically a problem of aging.

Fable 5 Arthritis is cured with (choose favorite remedy).
Fable 1 Arthritis is an equal opportunity pain striking people of all ages.
Juvenile Arthritis is a category of this disease in which symptoms occur before age 16.
Hearing about arthritis pain and mobility limitation may seem to be more common from old adults, the same symptoms can be experienced at any age.
Fable 2 Arthritis involves inflammations to the joints which has little to do with the type of work a person does.
People who do physical labor such as construction, manufacturing or farming may also be more prone to injury.
Arthritis may develop in the injured and weakened joint after the injury.
Unfortunately people in sit-down jobs as well as people who do not do any manual labor can have arthritis.
Fable 3 Arthritis symptoms can be worsened by damp or cold.
But Arthritis is not a climate controlled disease.
People suffer from arthritis pain in Minneapolis and Miami and even Montevideo, Uruguay south of the equator.
Damaged joints are more likely impacted by being overweight than by mailing address.
Many people with arthritis find that wearing warm clothes in cold or rainy weather helps ease join pain.
If only geography were the cure, then moving to a warm climate would help.
That's just not the case.
Fable 4 Arthritis is due to eating fatty foods.
The only type of arthritis known to be worsened by certain foods is gout.
At one time gout was considered a rich person's disease because eating foods like sweetbreads, liver, bacon, salmon, turkey, sardines and scallops aggravate pain.
These foods and others that are high in purines produce excess uric acid which results in pain.
Fatty foods can be blamed indirectly in that being overweight is also a major problem for people with arthritis.
Fable 5 Arthritis cures are a dime a dozen and that's about all they are worth (be sure to get your change).
That's why this fable has a fill-in-the-blank to add the current popular cure claim.
Some folks swear by magnetic bracelets, aromatherapy, bee serum, essential oils and acupressure.
There are enough creams and salves on the internet and in the stores to grease the axels of a fleet of trucks, but that may be their best use.
Smearing creams on the skin when the pain and inflammation is within the joint area is both pointless and merely spreads false hope.
Endless combinations of nutritional supplements may be recommended.
Some benefit, even if only a placebo or imagined, could occur with any remedy.
As for medical cure, none is known.
Get the facts about Arthritis, don't buy into the fables.
